Description

Nitrogenous waste products such as Ammonia and Nitrite can become concentrated and lethal to fish and shrimp. Ammonia is a metabolic waste product of fish and shrimp. It can also accumulate in the water due to the decomposition of organic waste such as excess feed and feces.

The control of Ammonia and Nitrite in aquaculture is the second most factor impacting survival and growth of cultured organisms, following dissolved oxygen. Ammonia can be found in two forms, i.e., ionized and Unionized forms. The Unionized form of Ammonia is more toxic to fish and shrimp due to its ability to enter through gills.

ECOMET-A is a well-formulated Yucca Schidigera plant extract along with nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. Yucca schidigera extract contains steroidal saponins that control the secretion of urease enzyme by bacteria and prevents the formation of Ammonia.
